My vision was to create a "Center for Learning" that was unmatched in the character and quality of instruction anywhere in the Charlotte area. I began with with the basic concept that if you share that which you're passionate about with people who are eager to learn, you can make a difference in the lives of thousands. Todate I have had the honor of teaching and having (I pray) a positive impact on the lives of over 1500 since starting our mission here in Charlotte. My late instructor Grandmaster Gary Castanza was a firm believer that everyone could do martial arts if given the right environment and tools to grow, but you have to give them a reason to stay with their training.
With the dedication of our many students and their families, and subsequently our tireless instructors, the blessings of God above and the support of my wife Kathy and my daughters Marisa & Kayla, we have acheived it. In the coming year and moving forward we are looking at taking a leap forward by opening up more strategic satellite locations and expanding out internet accessibility. Additionally, by partnering with the American Okinawan Karate Association, The United Southern Isshin-Ryu Karate association, and the United States National Karate Federation, we are able to draw from a deep well of resources to make our students the best trained and most well informed.
Apex isn't about competitions or black belts... its about the people who come here and the goals that they have for themselves. Yes, competition is fun and certainly a black belt is a main goal for many people.
However.. its the journey not the destination and not the souvenirs we collect along the way.
