For Children ages 3 & 4 who are just beginning to get into organized activities, Apex offers a unique experience in our Lil Warriorz class.
As is the focus with all of our classes, we want to meet the student on their current learning level and apply training which addresses their physical needs as well.
The Lil' Warriorz classes use the "concrete reasoning" stage of development that the students are in at this age, where everything is black and white to them, in order to teach them about following rules, working with others and cause and effect of work and reward.
On the physical devleopment side students are improving coordination, balance, and eye hand coordination. Skills such as blocks, punches and kicks are taught to help build a base from which self defense tactics are built.
Mentally, we challenge students to build memory skills with names of techniques and other terminology, as well as learning about Stranger Danger and how to use physical skills to escape and seek help.
Our Lil' Warriorz classes are lead by three of our top instructors for the this age group:
Ben Smyth - "Sensei Ben" has 12 years of training experience and himself started his training at a very young age (7) has risen to 2nd degree black belt and is a shining example of what each student can attain if they stick with it. His quiet manners make him a perfect fit for many of our youngest students.
Terry Heise - "Sensei Terry" is an 8 year veteran of martial arts a 2nd degree black belt and a mother of three and has hundreds of insturctional hours logged with all ouf our youth students. Her no-nonsense approach to training helps students learn about discipline and following directions.
Tammy Lewsey - "Sempai Tammy" has been training for the past 6 years and is the mother of one of our top youth black belts. Having had two of her own children start at this age level, she has proven herself to be an invaluable asset to parents of Lil' Warriorz and help them coach their children at home. Tammy also runs the "F.I.T. Women" classes.
